Need to Increase Revenue? Choose Social Media!

Social Media is FREE!
The use of social media has grown leaps and bounds in the past few years. Most notably, Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Yelp and Google Reviews are FREE! So why not capitalize on the trend, and allow social media to work for your business.
For example:
Write a blog about your company to be featured on its website -> Post the blog on Digg -> Tweet about your blog and reference the company website -> Advertise your blog on Facebook and include the URL to your website -> etc.
Constantly creating buzz about your business, and allowing synergy to occur between all current forms of social media is sure to draw a crowd!
Some of my favorite forms of social media are referenced below-
Facebook- haven't we all heard of Facebook by now?! While I used to use Facebook as a way to stay connected with friends from high school and college, it also serves as a platform for businesses to connect with millions of potential customers.
For example, I recently accepted a position as a Marketing Coordinator. I changed my profile and included the name of my position and company under "Work Experience". Within 15-20 minutes of making this change, I had old friends commenting with "congratulations" and "way to go", "awesome", etc. However, the most important feedback I received was from a friend who entered the name of my new employer into Google and browsed through their website. She now has a working knowledge of this company and can share this information with others.
Aside from including such information in one's Facebook profile, it's also a great way to post a link to blogs. Many times when I write a hub, the last thing I do is post a link on Facebook- this can be done easily from any computer. In an instant, all of one's Facebook friends will see a link and small blurb about the blog on their news feed.
Digg- This website hosts blogs on a wide range of topics. Due to the fact that many businesses are investing time and money into their blog, why not post in more places than just the company website?! Simply create a profile, then copy and paste the blog into Digg under the business section. In seconds you've reached an entirely new segment of the population that otherwise would be left untouched, unless they already frequented your website. Make sure to post a blog that's informative, yet isn't so technical that the average joe won't understand. A balance in between the two is best, as to attract the most followers as possible.
Twitter- This application is wildly popular these days. Before you join in and tweet about your company, make sure you have a full understanding of how Twitter is meant to be used. Twitter was not designed for lengthly chunks of text. A sentence or two is best. So, be creative and cast a small message to the masses with the hope of gaining new followers, and ultimately, new business.
Yelp/Google Reviews- Reviews, both positive and negative, serve a great purpose for businesses today. Not every company is perfect, and providing customers an opportunity to leave their comments will only lead improvement. Reviews will help one improve their own skills, improve the business as a whole, and most importantly, improve the bottom line.
The content in this blog is merely a snapshot into the world of social media. So, look around and find what works best for your business. Remember, increased traffic leads to increased awareness and revenue!
